Theater critic, historian, and dramaturg Anthony Chase is also assistant dean of the School of Arts and Humanities at Buffalo State. He is a graduate of Trinity College, Hartford, where he was a double major in Theater Arts and English and was named “President’s Fellow in Theater Arts.” This was followed by graduate work in film studies, semiotics, and psychoanalytic literary theory at the Barbieri Center in Rome, Italy. He received the Ph.D. in English with a focus on drama studies at the University at Buffalo. Dr. Chase recently celebrated his 25th year as the host of “Theater Talk,” a weekly feature on WBFO radio, and a studio was named in his honor. He is creator and producer of Buffalo’s annual theater awards, “The Arties,” and was the Theater Editor for the Artvoice newspaper for 27 years. For ten years, he wrote for “Theater Week” magazine in New York.
