As one of only two programs accredited by National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST) in Western New York, SUNY Buffalo State offers students conservatory style training in an bustling urban, liberal arts setting. A SUNY Buffalo State theater graduate is armed with professional experience and the skills necessary for rewarding careers in theater.
Prospective undergraduate students interested in majoring in theater or pursuing a minor in dance or theater at Buffalo State must apply through the Undergraduate Admissions Office.
We invite you to take advantage of our Shadow Program. It's simple: Contact us directly and we'll choose a current theater major for you to spend the day with (classes, rehearsals, meals, etc.), have you meet our faculty, tour our extensive facilities, and meet with us to answer all of your questions.
On Friday, November 9, 2018, we have an entire day programmed for visiting high school students. Attend classes with current students, participate in workshops with faculty, play games with our "Friday Night Live" improv troupe and see our production of The Color Purple: The Musical and it's all completely free!
